1915 1d stationery postcard with message from German sailor, Karl Kohler (ex. S/S Chow Tai) interned in German Concentration Camp, Liverpool. N.S.W. The "S/S. Chow Tai" was captured in Singapore on 8th August 1918 and the crew was later transfered to Liverpool internment camp in Australia.

No military fighting occured but H.M.S. Hawkins was sent to patrol the coast and "Active Service" free postage wasgranted to the crew. Few examples recorded.
