The envelope returned to Paris via the French airmail service, on arrival 1Fr 50c & 30c postage dues applied. Receiving cancellation on the reverse.

The flight recorded in Nierinck was a military flight addressed to the Liberation Army, probably crashing in Italy

1863 The African Steam Ship Company Third Contract 1866-1872 entire letter carried on the vessel "BONNY" departing Freetown 9th January arriving Liverpool 26th January with aCalais transit mark of 27th January. 'PAID-AT-SIERRA-LEONE' unframed c.d.s. in black 'JA 9 1872' The pentagonal handstamp 'GB /2F' was applied in London. French '12' decimes handstamp, indicates the amount to be collected.

1875 envelope carried on The African Steam Ship Company and British & African Steam Navigation Co. Shared Contract 1873 to U.P.U. ship "Cameroon" which departed Freetown on 15th March arriving Liverpool 31st March. "PAID-AT-SIERRA-LEONE" unframed c.d.s. in red '15 MAR 1875' Manuscript '5' (Credit to U.K. post office) Too date this cover is the latest paid letter recorded that didn't have postage stamps.

The Fahnestock brothers U.S. naval officers led this expedition to make ocean surveys for the U.S. Navy and to study & collect bird specimens for the American Musuem of Natural History in New York. Franked Fiji 2d adhesive tied 'VUNILAGI' c.d.s. '3 AUG 40' Numerous expedition cachets, sent to the U.S.A. via Noumea New Caledonia.

'9 MY 1906' On the reverse a fine strike of the oval rubber 'CICIA FIJI' oval datestamp '5 - JUN 1906' in violet, which is the latest recorded usage. A pin hole on the front where it has been attached to a letter.
