One of three recorded examples with 10cts charge. The late fee for north bound airmail commenced on 2nd September 1933 for mail posted after 5pm. The P.M.G. withdrew the service at the end of the month as only eight letters had been posted using this facility. Additional 10c adhesive applied paying the fee.

1918 5m stationery envelope addressed to London cancelled 'KHARTOUM' c.d.s. '24 MR 18' Boxed 'DAMAGED BY IMMERSION / IN SEA WATER' struck in violet. Carried on the S.S. Kingstonian which was torpedoed by the German submarine U-68 on 11th April. She was towed into Sardinia. After leaving Sardinia she was torpedoed again by the U-48 and was sunk.
