1918 envelope from Natal South Africa stamps washed off Port Shepstone? c.d.s. 'AP 20 18' addressed to the U.K. Carried on the Kenilworth Castle of the Union Castle Line departing Cape Town on 2nd May. On the morning of June 4th off the Eddystone lighthouse in the English Channel she was involved in a collision with an escorting destroyer. Boxed 'DAMAGED BY IMMERSION/ IN WATER' cachet struck in black.
