1835 entire letter headed and dated 'Cape Town March 30th, 1835' addressed to Glastonbury Connecticut U.S.A. rated in manuscript '20z' Large part octagonal full rigged ship handstamp in red, together with octagonal transit cancellation 'PHILA / 29 /MAY' Letter states " Since commencing this letter an American ship bound for Philadelphia has anchored in Table Bay. Letter refers refers to the President's message re war between England & France. Carried privately to Philadelphia where it was put in the U.S. mails.
