1865 Standard Bank of South Africa cheque issued at Kings William Town for Six Pounds & Five Shillings. The fee paid with a 1d Triangular adhesive, a three margin example tied by manuscript date '23/1/65' and initialed. Straight line 'PAID' and '9 FEB 1865' The first time I have seen a triangular adhesive paying the fee. Printed cheques were not issued in South Africa until the mid 1880's Edge faults & folds.
1947 Postage 2d, Registration 3d (5d) registered stationery envelope (H2) addressed to Suva. On the reverse additional 5/- 1/5d 1/2d & 2/- adhesives tied 'LABASA' c.d.s. '3 NOV 47' paying the insured fee for £300 Red/Black 'INSURED / (VALEUR DECLAREE')' label. A rare usage on internal insured mail.

1902 6c + 6c stationery card headed and dated "Welikada Jail, Colombo 10-1-02" From a Dutch Prisoner addressed to Amsterdam.mail from Welikada Jail was processed through Diyatalawa with thew camp c.d.s. and oval camp censor initaled 'E.J.B.' Very few examples recorded.
1963 registered envelope (stamps washed off) from Mangaia. Addressed to Wellington. Carried on the ketch "Siren" returning from Mangaia, struck the reef on entering Avatiu Harbour on the evening of 12th July. Photocopy of letter from Cook Islands Post office included.

1949 envelope from London addressed to Pietermaritzburg. Straight line 'RECEIVED DAMAGED BY FIRE' In the early hours of 4th August 1949 a carriage on the train travelling between Ladysmith and Pietermaritzburg caught fire, The train stopped at Frere station where the crew managed to contain the fire. On arrival at Pietermaritzburg the van was sealed, then escorted by police to Durban. The majority of the mail was destroyed.
